Crowns & bridges

If you’re dealing with tooth loss in Lethbridge, AB, dental crowns and bridges might be just what you need to restore both the function and appearance of your smile. Whether caused by injury, decay, or gum disease, missing teeth can lead to shifting teeth, which can impact your bite and the overall look of your face. At our Lethbridge dental office, we offer customized, durable crowns and bridges designed to give you back your smile and maintain the structure of your jaw.

Our crowns and bridges are made to blend in perfectly with your natural teeth, improving both function and aesthetics. If you’re in need of restorative dental treatments in Lethbridge, reach out to us to find out how crowns and bridges can help you.

What are Crowns?

A Dental Crown, also known as a “cap,” is a tooth-shaped restoration that covers a weakened or damaged tooth. Crowns are designed to restore both the function and the appearance of the tooth. We typically use porcelain crowns, which are durable, natural-looking, and biocompatible. Other materials, such as zirconia or metal alloys, may also be used depending on your specific needs.

When are Crowns Needed?

Crowns may be recommended for the following situations:

  • Severe decay or damage to a tooth
  • Post-root canal treatment to protect the tooth
  • To correct misshapen or discolored teeth
  • To restore strength to a cracked or weakened tooth
  • As a restoration for dental implants

What are Bridges?

A dental bridge is a permanent restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth. It typically involves the use of artificial teeth (pontics) that are anchored to natural teeth or dental implants. Dental bridges can not only restore your smile but can also help with speech, chewing, and confidence. Since there are several different kinds of bridges, we will help you select the best procedures for your unique situation.

What are Bridges Needed?

Bridges are often recommended for:

  • Replacing missing teeth
  • Preventing adjacent teeth from shifting into the gap
  • Restoring bite alignment
  • Maintaining facial structure by preventing bone loss
  • Restoring functionality (such as chewing and speaking)

Dental veneers

Over time, your teeth can acquire stains, chips, breaks, or cracks that can cause you to lose confidence in your smile and make it harder to properly care for your teeth. These imperfections can be corrected by having veneers bonded to your teeth by a cosmetic dentist. Dental veneers are thin pieces of durable porcelain that are permanently bonded to the front of your teeth to cover up unwanted flaws, giving you a natural-looking, beautiful smile. Most dental veneers are highly resistant to permanent discolouration from coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco. Cosmetic veneers can also be adjusted to exactly match the colour of your natural teeth. Dental veneers can help improve the overall look of your teeth’s colour, size, shape, alignment, and spacing. Get in touch with our office today to learn more about dental veneers.

Invisalign®

One of the most popular cosmetic dentistry services we offer is Invisalign® aligners or “clear braces”, which are customized removable trays that help to treat gaps, underbites, overbites, crowding, and other issues. All Invisalign® dentistry aligners are made from BPA-free clear plastic and are designed using a series of x-rays, pictures, and impressions to create a precise image of your teeth, ensuring that each of your dentistry aligner trays are properly configured. For this treatment, you will be given a new set of aligners every two weeks that will help slowly move your teeth into the ideal positions. Unlike metal braces that are attached to your teeth, Invisalign® trays can be removed at any time; however, for optimal results, it is best to wear the dentistry aligners for at least 20-22 hours a day. Teeth Whitening

Our cosmetic dentists can provide teeth whitening services that work to remove stains and discolouration and to help lighten teeth pigmentation by applying carbamide peroxide to each tooth’s surface. While you can choose between professional teeth whitening and buying an over-the-counter teeth whitening kit, it is important to keep in mind that store bought teeth whitening kits will have significantly less active ingredients (carbamide peroxide) and will likely take longer to get the desired results. In most cases, your teeth can be whitened up to eight shades; however, the overall results will also depend on the degree of teeth discolouration and how well your teeth respond to the treatment. Long-term results will be influenced by your eating and drinking habits. Touch ups may be required.
